Reviews of N-Gage Games |

Nokia N-Gage is not only an old smartphone based on Symbian OS. It is a gaming giant, a legend. Moreover, despite its age, the N-Gage platform can still compete with games for modern operating systems. Don’t believe it? I highly recommend that you read this article to the end if you answer:

“No, Bohdan, I don’t believe you. It sounds bizarre. How can 20-year-old games be better than the new ones?”

I wonder if you will change your mind after you read my today’s material. I will start with the things that I can attribute to the apparent advantages of N-Gage games over the 2020s competitors. Among them:

  1. There are a lot of exclusive projects, which have no analogs on other platforms.
  2. Multiplayer via Bluetooth. Almost all applications support this feature.
  3. Affordability. People can easily download each of the games online for free.
  4. Convenience. You can run these legendary masterpieces on your PC or modern smartphone. This is possible thanks to a variety of emulators.
  5. The absence of advertising. I think you also met the fresh games, where sometimes you have to spend a lot of time watching ads. Here you do not have to waste time. You can immerse yourself in the process of gaming completely without any interruptions and enjoy the moment.
  6. A complete and interesting storyline. There is no secret that most mobile games nowadays are made with the ability to play them endlessly. That is, missions replace such an exciting thing as the progression of the story. In N-Gage games, this point is present in full.

Most importantly, no matter how many new games there are, Gaga will stay Gaga. Many people will remember, love, and respect it for being the mothership of the quality mobile gaming area. And after all, as two incredible machines!

Let’s take a closer look at what delicacies this platform has in store for us.

10. Marcel Desailly Pro Soccer

The first tasty thing from my list will please the gourmets who like to play football simulators. Although FIFA 2004 & FIFA 2005 are available on the platform, I will preference this game. Because it perfectly conveys the atmosphere of “mobility” gameplay, if you’ll allow me to say so.

Yes, Marcel Desailly Pro Soccer is not N-Gage exclusive. This game has analogs available for Palm operating system and Java platform. Plus, a year before the release of these versions, Marcel Desailly Pro Football for Sony PlayStation came out.

However, it feels like Gameloft has tried to make every effort to make the version for Gaga unique. And both apps from Electronic Arts look like quality ports of good games for PC.

9. Ashen

Fans of N-Gage games do not need to read much about this game. It is epochal. This is the best first-person shooter for cell phones. So now we are greeted by an exclusive Triple-A project for our favorite platform. It has no flaws, and that is very rare for its genre.

Often good gameplay can be overshadowed by modest graphics. That’s what happened with Call of Duty. Or a trivial soundtrack makes you settle for just a significant visual aspect. In this case, I’m referring to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm for N-Gage.

I like most about Ashen is the thoughtfulness of all of the game’s elements and the harmony of their implementation. It’s a monolithic diamond of the mobile gaming world that is definitely worth your attention.

8. Colin McRae Rally 2005

Friends, following the best shooter, now the best rally simulator appears before us. This genre is not as popular as the arcade races, for example. But we will talk about them later. Now we have the perfectly balanced game, where the control and realistic driving are in focus.

Colin McRae Rally 2005 has only one competitor on the platform. It is Sega Rally. But it does not quite reach the same level as the hero of these lines, which rightfully took an important place in the history of N-Gage games.

7. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater

Here comes another legend — this time, I want to introduce you to an excellent skateboarding simulator. For fans of the sport, this game has become one of the most favorite. As an example, one of my friends has savored it for several years and did not get tired of it!

And now a few facts. Tony Hawk is a world-famous skateboarder. Many skateboarding simulators have his name on the title. Neversoft created one of them for N-Gage in 2003. Despite the time of release, the game is very realistic and also has pretty good musical accompaniment.

In general, I can recommend Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater to all fans of extreme pastime. Guys, you’ll get a lot of emotions, but your bones will remain intact 😉

6. One

I was shocked when I first launched this game in 8th grade. It is the holder of the best graphics possible in general on all mobile platforms in 2005. Even now, not every hit for modern smartphones can boast of the same perfectly detailed action scenes as the One.

This is a fighting game, which release was in 2005, exclusively for the N-Gage platform. In my opinion, the main zest here is the fighter creation mode. It allows players to customize the look of their character down to the smallest detail. In addition, there is a very cool story mode.

Another good news for fans of N-Gage games is that the platform boasts two excellent representatives of the genre. So be sure to pay your attention to The King of Fighters. It is also a very worthy fighting game with its unique features.

5. Asphalt: Urban GT 2

Well, here’s the guest that certainly doesn’t need a detailed introduction. This is an advanced racing game that has already become a real long-lived member of the game world. At the moment, there are already more than a dozen parts of this game franchise on different platforms.

For the first time, the world saw Asphalt Urban GT in 2004 on the Nokia N-Gage. All were delighted with the pioneer of the series. And so, in 2005, Gameloft released the second part of the franchise. There are already versions in jar and sis format. But it is nothing compared with the one they made for Gaga.

Objectively speaking, this particular N-Gage game was the best in the Asphalt universe among the 2000s releases. And for me, it is the best part of it ever.

4. Rifts: Promise Of Power

Excuse me, fans of modern apps, but here we have the best game of its genre once again. This platform is fortuitously rich with an abundance of epic creations that are hard to beat. One of them is Rifts: Promise Of Power.

This electronic work of art combines elements of RPG and turn-based strategy. It is hard to find such a mix in a single game. But it is only the beginning. In addition, the developers were able to implement such a bold idea at the highest level.

If you want to see something extraordinary, you’ll need to play this game. But I want to warn you that it’s very addictive. I spent about 30 “clean” hours in it and still haven’t reached the end. By clean hours, I mean the amount of time the app reads when saving. Yet, sometimes you have to try to complete tasks multiple times.

3. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Tom Clancy is a world-famous writer. My dream is to get even close to his level of mastery someday. Yes, I write books. Folks, if you’re interested, you can take a look at them in the Books section.

So there have been several films based on his work and dozens of games created. Three of them are available to play on Gaga. Among them are “Splinter Cell: Team Stealth Action” (2003), “Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm” (2004), and the representative of the 3rd place on this list of the best N-Gage games.

In 2005, Gameloft and Ubisoft announced the long-awaited sequel to the Splinter Cell series, Chaos Theory. Compared to its predecessor, it has a lot of improvements in both graphics and gameplay aspects.

This is one of my favorite games published for the N-Gage platform. Challenging levels, exciting story, great graphics – that’s what I like about it. In this part, like in the first one, there are ten stages. We travel to different countries of the world. Between several levels, there are quality video clips by which we can see what is happening to our team.

2. Pathway to Glory

Imagine that we are in the mid-2000s. I stand in front of you and offer to install this application. Without even looking at the game, we are slightly appalled by its size – 50 MB! That’s an enormous number for those times.

But after playing, we see that the juice is worth the squeeze. Or the quality is worth the bite, in our case. Here we meet an all-inclusive service. In our “gaming resort,” we get great graphics mixed with a breathtaking soundtrack.

Plus, the developers pleased us with fantastic gameplay and an engaging storyline. All missions have been created based on real World War II battles. Before each “job,” we got quite a bit of information about the mission. It describes the prehistory, the course of the battle, and the historical document.

Incidentally, there were not many strategies among the N-Gage games. But those that came into the hands of players became undoubted hits. That was High Seize, our hero, and its sequel called Pathway to Glory: Ikusa Islands.

1. Glimmerati

My dear Jedi, we are close to the end of the road since we have reached the top of the list. But the start of the next ones is just around the corner. Because we still got games for Symbian OS & Java platform. And PC bestsellers, of course. So we have a lot of exciting things ahead.

Now, let’s finish this article by mentioning a game that is strikingly deeply transmitting the atmosphere of the 2000s. It’s steeped in that era. Here we are invited to watch in first person the glamorous life of various stars. At the same time, we can participate in exciting races.

I can hardly single out one of the game’s key points because Glimmerati has a myriad of them. But I will try to solve such a complicated task. So, it’s a non-linear narrative of the story. Your choice determines the ending of your character’s journey.

If you want to continue having fun and looking for a similar game, I advise you to play K-Rally. It’s one of the best games for Symbian OS, by the way.

Friends, thank you for your attention. I wish you all a cheerful mood. Have a great day, and see you next Sunday!
